Winter Hazzard ALERT
If your using a space heater in your house make sure to turn it off when you leave the room.  I have seen many  fires start from unattended space heaters.  They are not intended to run all the time. Space heaters are not designed to be the only source of heat.  They are made to make the heat more even in a room.
Fire Smart
Cleaning the dryer lint from around your dryer
Make sure the flue damper opens and closes fully.
Hire a professional to clean the chimney and inspect the firebox at least once per year.
Always turn off Space heaters   when you leave the room.
Keep pot handles turned in while cooking
For a fire to exist there must be three things present...

1. Oxygen
2. Fuel
3. Heat
This is called the fire triangle.  If you eliminate just one of these elements a fire will die.
Oxygen is everywhere. However, You can take the heat source from the combustibles. The fuel can be anything from  clothing, curtains, liquid flammables, just about everything in your house.  Now the heat is stuff like a stove, heating devices, damaged electrical wires, and candles.
